Oily Skin Type

There are some benefits and also some downfalls to having oily skin type.  One of the benefits to having oily skin is the ability to tan well and to not have to deal with the effects of the sun like the other skin types.  Another bonus to having oily skin is the fact that you are likely to have less facial lines as you age.  While all of these positive attributes sound so wonderful there are still the downsides that can affect people with oily skin throughout their lives.

Oily skin tends to have larger pores and along with this you can expect to have blackheads because of the grime that is caught in open pores more easily.  Oily skinned people tend to be more susceptible to acne than any other skin type.

People with oily skin type tend to have darker complexions.

The cause of oily skin is overactive sebaceous glands that produce too much oil from the larger pores.  When this happens people tend to over clean their skin in attempt to get rid of the oil, but this does not solve the problem.  Excessive washing will cause the glands to create more oil.  A person with oily skin will have a shiny look a short time after cleansing the skin.

People with oily skin should always select products that are specifically developed for oily skin.  Choosing a product  that is not formulated for oily skin will only exacerbate the problems that oily skin types experience.

It is essential that people with oily skin type refrain from touching their face, particularly during exercise when the larger pores are more prone to retaining any grime that you could transfer from your hands to your face.

Acne

Acne is the curse of a teenagers face.  For most people the problems they had as a teenager with zits will disappear as they get older, but that is not always the case.  There are large numbers of adults that suffer from acne, and this can be very stressful to live with.

There are several reasons why an adult can get acne.  Adults can get acne from stress which is a huge problem in our society today.  Hormonal problems and medications can also effect the skin causing acne.

The cause of acne is  when the skin pore or a hair follicle becomes blocked.  This blockage is caused by the skin cells that are exfoliated, but not completely removed from the skin. The skin then blocks the pores which then forms a plug that traps the sebum.  This in turn leads to a build up of bacteria which results in the inflammation of the skin.

There are several fantastic products on the market that can help reduce the occurrence of acne in teenagers, and adults alike.  The most common treatment is the use of retinoids that are derived from vitamin A.

Re tin-A is the most popular of these applications, and is a prescription medication.  There are several “over the counter” products such as retinal Acne that are also suitable for many people. These medications work by removing the stickiness in the cell that causes the discarded cells to remain trapped.  By allowing those cells to be freely exfoliated there is no buildup of sebum which allows for a decrease in the occurrence of bacterial buildup.

There are other products on the market that assist in clearing up blocked pores by infiltrating the sebaceous matter, and some of these products are used in better quality cleansers.

While you should not expect results overnight you can have healthier skin by using these cleansers on a regular basis.  After a few weeks you should see a decrease in acne.  Where by the use of these products should help you maintain a healthy and blemish free skin.
