Exfoliating Your Skin

Exfoliating your skin keeps it looking healthy and more vibrant.  It will also help to remove the dead skin cells, and residue from the surface of the skin.

There are several ways that this can be done, but you need to be careful how you handle exfoliating because sometimes it can do more harm than good.  The dead skin, grime, and residue that is on the surface of your skin causes your complexion to look dull and washed out.  When you remove the the skin cells and dirt on your face, your skin looks a lot healthier and fresher.

When exfoliating your skin, you need to be particularly careful that you do not use products that are too harsh for your skin type.  If you have skin that is sensitive then you will have to check whether there is any reddening of the skin, and if so, stop immediately!

A face cloth will be suitable for most people because it will clean the skin while remaining gentle enough not to cause any problems with all skin types, but the most sensitive of skin.

It is not wise to use exfoliating brushes or loofahs on your face.  These types of exfoliating tools are better off being used on your body.  Your body can stand a little more abrasion without damage.  An alternative would be the use of a chemical exfoliant that does not require an abrasive reaction.  It still helps to remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.  Even these formulations need to be tested on a small area of your face because they can still cause some reactions with some skin types.

There are also natural exfoliants that are very effective, and while they will not give us instant results like some of the chemical ones, or brushes.  They will do a great job over an extended period of time without causing damage to the skin.  The most popular ingredient of the natural products is papaya.
