Medifast Thoughts
Medifast thoughts. I have spent a great deal of time thinking about Medifast the last few weeks. I know I have not spent a great deal of time writing on this blog, but that is because, like so many others, my life is quite busy. My point here today is that my days seem to be getting crazier each day I trek into work. It is starting to seem as if there is not enough time in the day. Today, while I was driving from one customer complaint to another I realized I was dwelling on my Medifast thoughts.
I have been on Medifast for 20 days and I have lost a total of 13.8 pounds. As I was driving, I had a bag of Medifast Parmesan Cheese Puffs sitting next to me and as I reached over to open the bag I caught a McDonalds up the road and realized that if I were not on Medifast, I would be pulling in there to eat because Iwas hungry. As I sat at the red light I saw an obese woman exiting with a bag of food and thought to myself that eating Medifast was not only less expensive and healthier…it was so much easier to do! Let me explain where my thinking went as I did some math in my head and realized math in my head was not all that great.
When I got home I sat here at my computer and I broke out my calculator and determined…
For the sake of honesty, I will calculate the price of Medifast without any coupons or discounts. For the sake of argument lets just say I paid the full $2.37 for each Medifast meal. Needing to eat 5 Medifast meals a day the grand total is $11.85… for the entire day. Since I was passing by the McDonalds I realized that on an average trip I would spend about $10.00, and sometimes more. Brushing aside the cost I then turned my attention to the amount of calories at McDonald’s, as compared to Medifast. My average meal at McDonalds calculates out to 930 calories. That may not seem like many, but it is outrageous, when compared to Medifast and when you stopped and thought just how many calories a person really needs.
On an average day on Medifast I am thrilled, and VERY content to eat about 1,0oo calories during the entire day. As I sat there deep in my thoughts I dismissed even thinking about all of the carbs and sugars and all of the other crap I was NOT eating because I was not eating fast food. I was thinking that I was probably getting more nutrition in one or two Medifast meals than that lady was carrying out in her bag with substantially less fat and other crap McDonalds is known to contain.
I remember friving away from the light and reachingover for my cheese puffs and was quite content in the fact that I was making the right choice. I was losing weight. My clothing is getting loose and I feel great. As I drove away I knew that Medifast was not only a smart choice, it was a really smart choice…and that was the best thought of all.

Medifast Weight Loss Meal Plan Information
If you decide to use Medifast to lose weight you will be embarking on a weight loss adventure that can very well alter your relationship with food. We here at I Choose Beauty acknowledge the simple truth that for a person to lose weight
Medifast has been around for well over 25 years and today is emerging onto the market as the premier weight loss plan. The truth is that as time has passed the Medifast Program has become even more effective. The entire program has been approved by over 25,000 doctors and it is even used and endorsed by The Johns Hopkins Bariatric Center. With those kind of credentials it is easy to see why so many people have been able to lose weight using the program.
What is Medifast?
What Medifast is can be simply explained by the word “calories.” Yes, that is right the word calories is what Medifast is all about. When a person starts using Medifast at home they will receive a package that contains a four week supply of five “meals” a day. When we say meals we do not want to imply that you will be sitting down to turkey, potatoes and gravy. What a Medifast meal is can be explained by saying that it is a controlled consumption of what a human body needs to lose weight. It not only limits the portion size, it limits the calories that are eaten.
I have used Medifast for quite some time now and I must confess that it is not like anything I expected it to be. Since each “meal” is around 100 calories the portion size is really small, compared to what I used to eat before I became aware of what being fit was all about. The hidden factor of Medifast is that the meals may be small, but they consist of what your body needs to not only stay alive, but they consist of the right combination of nutrition to make weight loss not only possible, but relatively fast.

I eat about every two to three hours and once a day I eat what is called a “Lean and Green Meal”, which is always loaded with protein and vegetables of my choosing. The protein can come from your choice of lean beef, fish, chicken, pork or other selections you may desire. The meal plan may seem restrictive, but overall it will end up being quite easy to do. I have lost over 67 pounds and the weight just keeps coming off.
The five meals a day consist of shakes, oat meals, soups and puddings, among many other selections and flavors. What I have learned about Medifast is what it has helped teach me. What I mean by this is that I now know when I am really hungry and when I just want to eat for entertainment. I now understand that I was addicted to food and that addiction was lead by emotional factors that drove me to eat much more than I needed to eat.
In short, Medifast is the best meal replacement program in existence.
Why Medifast?
Medifast has shown me how insecure I have been about food. One interesting thought I have always had was the amount of time I spent occupied with food. What I mean with that is all of the shopping and the restaurants and the meal planning and on and on and on. I would always be thinking about what to eat and where to get it. I would be eating breakfast quickly before work and already thinking about whether or not I should eat out or bring my lunch. The interesting thing is that despite all of my planning and thinking about eating, every time I ate… I paid NO attention to the fact I was eating! Every Time I ate I would get on the computer or watch TV or read a newspaper. Despite all of the attention I gave to eating, I never paid attention to the fact that I WAS EATING!
Now with Medifast there is little to no planning. I reach down and grab my meals for the day, and it is done. The total planning has been broken down to one simple thought, one simple action that removes all of the stress and tension involved everyday with the dealings of food and eating. For the one Lean and Green Meal I cook up some chicken or port or fish once or twice a week and that is the sum total of the plan. Eat five Medifast Meals and then the one Lean and Green Meal. It is really pretty simple!
Being simple and easy to use and understand are good reasons to use Medifast, but it is not the best reason. The reason why Medifast works is because it helps you restrict your calories while helping your body receives the needed nutrients to help it burn off the fat that you want to go away. The best reason to use Medifast is simply because it works.
Also you must realize that Medifast is not what you will want to exist on for the rest of your life. What you need to understand is that with Medifast you will spend some time to help you understand what a healthy portion size is all about. When you use the Medifast Plan you will be amazed that you do not need to eat till you puke. If you can start Medifast with the convictions to make it work and get past the first three days, you should be able to go all the way with Medifast.
Is It Expensive?
If you look at the upfront cost you will have sticker shock but the reality is that when you are on Medifast you will spend less money on food overall. You will not need to shop at the grocery store as often, you will not need to eat at a restaurant everyday at work. As long as you have access to a microwave, you will be able to achieve Medifast success. What you will learn about the cost of Medifast is that overall the TOTAL expense will save you money. Just think about it a moment…$10.00 a day for 5 meals for Medifast and how much do you pay to get an unhealthy burger and fries with a Coke? Overall Medifast may seem expensive up front, but actually it is cheaper than what you are doing right now.
The price of Medifast is about ten bucks a day, unless you are smart and get 2 weeks of Medifast FREE!
How Does Medifast Taste?
I have not had one meal from Medifast that I do not like. The Dutch Chocolate shake and the scrambled eggs are great tasting. I think my favorite is the chicken noodle soup but I am not a great oatmeal fan. I never really liked oatmeal all that much, so although the Medifast oatmeal is not bad, it is not my favorite. Over time I have learned ways to spice up the flavor of the different meals and that has helped the enjoyment level big-time. If you are worried about how Medifast tastes you really shouldn’t because I do not know anyone that has taken advantage of their liberal return policy.
In closing the last thing I have to say is that if you are tired of TRYING to lose weight and just want to get it done…Medifast could be for you. If you can commit to yourself to be strong for just a few months the quality of your overall life can and will change. If you can start the program and not stray, you will be much thinner than you are now. I lost about 18 pounds the first two weeks while a lady I know lost 8.5 pounds.
Medifast works, but as with other weight loss plans, it will only work if you are committed to making it a reality in your life.
I Started Medifast
I started Medifast, and I must tell you that the first 3 days were the worst. Today was day 5, and as I expected, it has gotten much easier. Since I have done Medifast before, nothing much about it has been a surprise to me this time around. The 1st day was pretty good, as I was too busy at work to even think about being hungry. The second day was kind of tough and I found myself looking at the clock anticipating how much longer I needed to wait until my next meal. The 3rd day was nothing big, and as of the 5th day (today) all has been going well.
Yesterday I had a crisis going with my adult child and found myself driving over 250 miles, and since I had the foresight to bring some extra Medifast bars and cheese puffs I did alright. Since my son had not eaten all day I took him out to eat and was even able to eat a Lean and Green Meal, while on the road. With all of the stress I had yesterday, it was amazing that I still was able to lose 0.8 of a pound in one day! Now that I started Medifast, I can tell you that I feel really good about myself.
I had been overweight for over 20 years and I was able to lose over 115 pounds using Medifast. The sad part is that despite all of my time spent watching The Biggest Loser…I was one of those people that gained much of my weight back. For months I watched my clothing get tighter and replaced with newer and larger clothing. Since I threw all my “fat” clothing away as I lost my weight last year, the shortage of clothing is what really made it obvious to me that I was gaining my weight back again. (Which is why I have always advocated getting rid of your fat clothing.)
As the months went by, and I watched myself get overweight (again) and I was unable to stop the binge eating and the anonymous trips to the fast food drive thru, and all the other things I have done to myself. Now that I have started Medfiast again I feel as if I have reached a state of dieting Zen because I am no longer listless. Maybe that is why I did so well during my time in The Marine Corps, because there really is not all that much to think about with Medifast. I wake up, I eat Medifast.
As each day progresses I simply reach into my Medifast drawer and off I go! Like my time in the service, I have a plan of the day and I simply stick to that plan. There really is not that much to the whole program and since I started Medifast again I can simply say I am much more relaxed about my weight. No stress, no major shopping. No major much of anything. I may have gained my weight back again but the difference this time is I know what to expect and losing the weight is no longer the issue. I know that Medifast works and this time around I am going to spend more time doing what it needs to keep the weight off my waistline.
I have lost 7 pounds in 5 days and I know the first week shows the most weight but I still feel so much better about my body. In just 5 days I don’t feel bloated and I have no acid-reflux at all. I must say that I am very happy with myself because I started Medifast.
